Configure Cards and Field Modes

For Editors and Admins.

The Card Editor opens when you tap the ✎ icon on a card in the template builder. It lets you set the value or behaviour of every data field on that card.

The three field modes

Each data field in a card can be in one of three modes:

ModeWhat it doesWhen to use
FixedThe value is pre-filled and cannot be changed during inspectionStatic information that is the same on this specific card (e.g. blade position PS Leading Edge)
EditableThe field is blank at the start of inspection; the technician fills it in liveMeasurements or observations that vary per card
From setupThe value is entered once on the Setup screen before the inspection starts, then appears identically on every card in the sessionInformation constant across the whole session (e.g. Turbine ID, Inspector Name, Date)

Switching a field's mode

In the Card Editor, each field shows its label and a mode selector. Tap the mode you want:

  • Fixed → a text input appears. Type the value that should appear on the printed card.
  • Editable → no value to enter; the field will be blank during the inspection.
  • From setup → the field is linked to the session-level Setup screen. No per-card value is needed here.

The Card Editor showing a list of fields. At least one field should be set to Fixed (with a value typed in), one to From setup, and one to Editable — so all three modes are visible at once. Show the mode selector buttons clearly.

Date and Time fields

Date and time fields have the same three modes as text fields. When set to From setup, the Setup screen will show a date or time picker for that field. Date/time setup fields are not prefilled by "Remember last used values" — they always start fresh.

Tips

  • Use Fixed mode for blade identifier text that differs between cards (e.g. PS Root Section, SS Mid Section).
  • Use From setup for the turbine serial number, job reference, and inspector name — one entry populates all cards.
  • Use Editable mode sparingly: live text input on a card is less reliable than a pre-filled reference card.

Card preview

In the Card Editor, you can see the card rendered with sample values to check field positioning before saving.

Returning to the template

When you close the Card Editor, the template builder scrolls back to the card you just edited.
