Install VBIC on Your iPad โ
VBIC is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Installing it to your iPad home screen gives you:
- A full-screen experience with no Safari browser chrome
- Faster launch from a tap (no typing a URL)
- Offline access to cached templates after the first load
Safari only. PWA installation on iPadOS requires Safari. Chrome and Firefox on iOS cannot add apps to the home screen.
Steps โ
1. Open the app in Safari โ
Navigate to the VBIC URL in Safari on your iPad.
Sign in if you haven't already โ signing in at least once loads your templates into the local cache, so they're available offline after installation.

Offline use โ
Once installed and signed in, VBIC caches your templates locally. If you lose connectivity:
- The app opens and shows cached templates normally.
- An Offline โ showing cached templates banner appears at the top of the screen.
- Inspections can still be run against cached templates.
- Changes and new data cannot be synced until you're back online.
To force a refresh when back online, pull down on the templates list or tap Refresh in the offline banner.
Updating the app โ
VBIC updates automatically in the background. When a new version is available, the service worker downloads it silently. On your next launch (or after a pull-to-refresh), the update is applied. No manual App Store update is required.
Setting up multiple devices โ
Repeat the installation steps on each iPad. Calibration is per-device โ remember to calibrate the ruler on each one.
